On Saturday we celebrated the Party of the Research at Vall d’Hebron, at the Pavelló Olímpics Vall d’Hebron, the first organized by a research institute of a hospital in Catalonia, where more than 2,000 people attended. The popular celebration closed the 20th anniversary of the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and was the preamble of the 60th birthday of the University Hospital Vall d’Hebron. The objective of the party was to make people aware of the importance of research and also to connect the society with the best biomedical research. The celebration "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2ZXilgrWGs" was promoted by Andrés Iniesta, VHIR’s ambassador, "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3OLCj_TuMc" Tomàs Molina, who participated as a Friend of VHIR, and "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA5Khk6msRU" Judit Mascó, and was possible thanks to "https://obrasocial.lacaixa.es/" La Caixa, "http://www.sanofi.es/l/es/sp/index.jsp" Sanofi and "http://www.palexmedical.com/es/index.cfm" Palex. From 10am to 12:30am and from 3pm to 5pm in the Sala de la Recerca inside the Pavelló, VHIR’s researchers offered scientific workshops and showed the best scientific photographs from the photo competition we do every year. Furthermore, everybody could see what the most important research lines in the Hospital are, looking at the posters we put on the walls. The first people that came, at 10am, found some chocolate to drink outside the Pavelló. Then, from 10.30am to 12.30am they enjoyed the Radio Flaixbac’s DJ’s workshop, with Andreu Presas, and also a sun observation with 3 telescopes helped by experts from l’Agrupació Astronòmica de Barcelona (ASTER) from 10am to 2pm.At 12:30am there was an institutional act inside, where the song AIRE was presented. This song had been composed by Pedro Pardo and Marta Hernández, and was interpreted by the group Fugados de Alcatraz, with the Vall d’Hebron Chorus. The party will be amused by Màgic Andreu and the showman Enric Company, and music was the protagonist with the performances of the best chorus groups from the TV3 program Oh Happy Day, the Gira-Sol orchestra, Maika (finalist of the TV program La Voz), Manu Guix, Charly Rodríguez and Boxets. And there were also music for children with Més tumàcat and Lali Rondalla. There was also a tennis game from 3pm to 5pm thanks to the Tennis Vall d’Hebron, and a nutrition workshop by Gemma Miranda, from the Agència de Salut Pública. The visitors could make a solidarity contribution paying a symbolic prize for the children activities –bouncy castles- with the paella, buying merchandising from VHIR, that was very successful, and with the raffle of a trip to the Caribbean. They could also become Friends of the Vall d’Hebron and made donations for the research. The party had the collaboration of private companies and associations related to the Hospital and Barcelona, who did solidarity activities to support the research.
