30 years of research It has been 30 years since a group of researchers in Vall d'Hebron laid the foundations of what is now a benchmark research centre in our country. See the history See more Testimonials from 30 years of research Montse Giménez Manager of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute Montse Giménez, as manager of VHIR, explains in this video how the institution has grown in terms of administration, management, staff, etc. When the VHIR was created there was practically no support for researchers and today we have more than 1,100 people between the structure and the research support staff. This growth has undoubtedly been essential to achieving excellence in research. And now, the new building will be the space in which we can continue to grow with facilities that meet the needs of our researchers. Antonio Moreno Head of Growth and Development research group After graduating from the University of Granada, Dr Antonio Moreno came to Vall d'Hebron to do his specialist training in paediatrics and has been working with us since 1992. He witnessed the birth of the VHIR and has been involved in paediatric research since its inception. Joan Genescà Head of Liver Diseases research group Dr Joan Genescà explains how he witnessed the birth and growth of the VHIR and how his group's research has become a reference in the field of liver diseases, as well as the main challenges that the VHIR faces in order to maintain a level of excellence in research. Anna Meseguer Head of the Kidney Physiopathology research group Dr Anna Meseguer came to Vall d'Hebron from the United States in the early 90s with the promise of research facilities. With her, we review the evolution of the VHIR over these 30 years and how the vision of women in science has changed over the years. Rafa Simó Head of Diabetes and Metabolism research group Dr. Rafael Simó Canonge came to Vall d'Hebron as a resident and has developed his entire professional career at the Campus. He has witnessed the creation of the VHIR as it has evolved over these 30 years, linked to the hospital. Talks of 30 Years of VHIR Starting in September and as part of the events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute, we have organized a series of six talks.
