José Antonio Ramos Quiroga

I am a doctor specialized in adult psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a doctorate in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). I develop my professional activity as Head of the Psychiatry Service and President of the Innovation Commission of Vall Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus. I lead the research group in Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). Member of the Internal Scientific Committee of VHIR. Member of the Steering Committee of the Biomedical Research Networking Center in Mental Health (CIBERSAM) of the Carlos III Health Institute. On a teaching level, I am professor of psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and coordinator of the subject of psychiatry at the UAB and I'm the coordinator of the Vall Hebron Hospital Teaching Unit of the UAB. Co-Director of the Master's in Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship of UAB-VHIR.

My professional work has focused on the study of neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan, primarily attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and depression more resistant to treatment. I'm the vice-president of Sociedad Española de Psiquiatría y Salud Mental since October 2024. Moreover, I'm the coordinator of the working group on neurodevelopmental disorders throughout life of the Spanish Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health (SEPSM) since 2022 and co-chairman of the ADHD network of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP ). I have published more than 350 articles in SCI journals (H-index: 76 and 35,577 citations) derived from multiple competitive grants at international and national level as principal investigator. I have also carried out different studies on digital health or eHealth and developed mobile applications in mental health such as gestioemocional.catsalut.cat together with CatSalut. At the national level, I coordinate the program of psychosomatic disorders, anxiety and impulse control of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red Salud Mental (CIBERSAM).I actively collaborate with different associations of people and family members with mental disorders in the fight against the stigma of mental disorders and their scientific dissemination.
