Soc doctor en veterinària i investigador principal del Grup de Recerca en Malalties Cardiovasculars. El meu interès principal és l'estudi dels mecanismes de la mort cel·lular durant un episodi de isquèmia-reperfusió miocàrdica i la cerca de nous tractaments per reduir la mida de l'infart i el posterior desenvolupament de insuficiència cardíaca.

El meu interès principal és l'estudi dels mecanismes de la mort cel·lular durant un episodi de isquèmia-reperfusió miocàrdica i la cerca de nous tractaments per reduir la mida de l'infart i el posterior desenvolupament de insuficiència cardíaca.

Soc investigador principal del Grup de Recerca en Malalties Cardiovasculars del Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca des de l'any 2001. El meu interès principal és l'estudi del dany per isquèmia-reperfusió que ocorre durant un infart de miocardi, i l’anàlisi dels mecanismes pels quals es moren els cardiomiòcits. La meva missió és proposar noves estratègies terapèutiques per tal de reduir l’impacte de l'infart i el posterior remodelat ventricular advers.
A data de març de 2017, la meva tasca investigadora ha generat 62 articles publicats en revistes internacionals d'alt índex d'impacte, amb una mitjana de 2,76 articles per any i un índex d'impacte de 4,32 de mitjana per publicació.
Com a investigador principal he dirigit fins al moment dos projectes finançats en convocatòries públiques per l’Instituto de Salud Carlos III i un altre finançat per la Fundació La Marató de TV3. A més, he dirigit 2 projectes de la Sociedad Española de Cardiologia.
D’altra banda, participo com a docent al Màster de Recerca Biomèdica Translacional del VHIR, tant donant classes teòriques com dirigint el treball d'investigació d'un alumne per any. A més, cada any sóc tutor d'un alumne de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, en les seves pràctiques corresponents a l'assignatura de "Pràctiques Acadèmiques en Entitats".
