Des del 1998 fins a 2005 vaig ser adjunt del Servei de Cirurgia Ceneral de l'Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron. El 2001 vaig obtenir el Board Europeu de Coloproctologia (European Board of Coloproctology-UEMS) i des de 2008 soc International Fellow de l'ASCRS (American Society of Colon and Rectum Surgeons). En l'actualitat sóc examinador del Board Europeu de Coloproctologia. Des de 2005 i fins a l'actualitat sóc cap de secció a l'Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron, coordinant la Unitat de Còlon i Recte del Servei de Cirurgia General. En quant a la meva activitat acadèmica, va iniciar-me el 1999 com a professor associat del departament de cirurgia de la Facultat de Medicina de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. On el 2010 vaig obtenir el nomenament de Professor Titular de cirurgia d'aquesta universitat. He escrit 17 capítols de llibres, 41 articles en revistes espanyoles i 63 en revistes internacionals indexades, a més he presentat més de 250 comunicacions en congressos nacionals i 100 en internacionals. He realitzat més de 150 ponències per invitació en cursos i congressos nacionals i internacionals. He participat en 9 projectes d'investigació finançats per organismes oficials espanyols o internacionals. També sóc membre de diverses societats científiques nacionals i internacionals. Sóc membre fundador de la S-ECCO (Surgery-European Crohn and Colitis Organization). I en l'actualitat, sóc membre de la junta de l'Associació Espanyola de Coloproctologia i secretari de la ESCP (European Society of Coloproctology).
Research lines Colorectal surgery Research focus To develop and promote research in the field of colon, rectum and anus surgery, from its most basic to clinical aspects, in order to improve both the knowledge of the disease and the quality of care. Sub-lines: 1. Colorectal cancer: 1. Reconstruction of the intestinal tract after rectal surgery; 2. Prognostic factors of disease-free survival and cancer-related mortality in colon cancer: 3. Suture dehiscence; predictive models of morbidity and mortality; 4. Postoperative pelvic sepsis and local recurrence in rectal cancer; 5. Morbidity and mortality in laparoscopic surgery; 6. Mesorectal excision in the treatment of rectal cancer. 2. Robotic colorectal surgery: 1. Applicability and safety of robotic surgery in colorectal diseases; 2. Application of new techniques in the pathology of the pelvic floor. 3. TEM (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery): Role of TEM in the treatment of early rectal cancer. 4. Perioperative management: 1. Antibiotic prophylaxis for surgical site infection in colorectal cancer surgery; 2. Recovery of gastrointestinal motility after surgery. 5.
