I am a bioinformatician in the Microbiology Department, where I work on the analysis and interpretation of genomic data applied to the study of microorganisms. My background in genetics and specialization in next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques have allowed me to integrate molecular biology with bioinformatics to support microbiological surveillance and diagnosis in a precise and efficient way.

With a degree in Genetics and a Master’s in Bioinformatics, I have focused my professional career on applying bioinformatics to the field of clinical microbiology. I am currently part of the Microbiology Department, within the Clinical Laboratories of the hospital, where I participate in the analysis and interpretation of sequencing data for epidemiological surveillance and pathogen characterization.

My work focuses on the bioinformatic processing of genomic data and the development and maintenance of analytical pipelines to support both diagnosis and research. This role has allowed me to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to public health decision-making and strengthening the capacity to respond to emerging infections.

I take part in several microbiological surveillance projects, both at the regional and national levels, including the SIVIC network, which coordinates infection surveillance in Catalonia, and the RELECOV network, dedicated to genomic sequencing and monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses across Spain. In these projects, I have contributed to sequence analysis, variant identification, and microbiological characterization.

In addition, I have experience in developing data analysis tools aimed at virological characterization, including the creation of custom scripts and visualization systems that facilitate the management and interpretation of genomic results. My goal is always to improve the efficiency and reproducibility of analytical processes within the hospital environment.

My main professional interest is to continue promoting the integration of genomics and bioinformatics into microbiological practice, contributing to the development of data-driven surveillance strategies.
