Jesús Castro is currently a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher linked to the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital Research Institute (VHIR) since 2000. In the last 20 years, Dr. Castro has dedicated themselves to basic research in autoimmune and rheumatic diseases with more than 50 publications and book chapters high impact He is currently the coordinator of the CFS/ME Research Laboratory at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, in Barcelona, Spain.

Jesus Castro earned his Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowship degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program at the Valladolid University School of Medicine, Spain in 1999. Dr. Castro is currently a Senior Postdoctoral Research at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital Research Institute, University of Barcelona School of Medicine, Barcelona, Spain since 2002. In the past 20 years have been devoted to basic research of respiratory medicine, autoimmune and rheumatic conditions with over 50 high-impact factor publications and book chapters. He is currently the coordinator of the CFS/ME Research Laboratory at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Castro is a member of the E.U. CFS/ME Research Collaborative Consortium Initiative (European Myalgic Encephalomyelitis NEtwork-EUROMENE). His current research is focused on the bioenergetic metabolism, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroimmune pathways linked to the immune response in CFS/ME, as well as finding useful biomarkers to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of CFS/ME through clinical trials in order to improve prognosis and quality of life of CFS/ME patients.
