Pere Soler Palacín I have been a pediatrician since 2004, when I completed my residency at HUVH. Since then, I have been responsible for the management of infections and immunodeficiencies in pediatric patients at the hospital. In addition, since 2014, I have been head of the VHIR research group investigating these conditions, and I have been an associate professor of Pediatrics at the UAB since 2011. I obtained my PhD in 2010 and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the UAB. I have contributed to more than 300 publications indexed in scientific journals. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1999 with Honours and have been a pediatrician since 2004, when I completed my residency at Vall d’Hebron. I obtained my PhD from the UAB in 2010 and completed a Master's degree in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the same university in 2014. Since 2004, I have been working as a specialist physician in the Infectious Diseases and Immunodeficiencies Unit at Vall d’Hebron. I headed the unit from 2016 to 2026, when I was appointed Head of the Department of Pediatrics and its Specialties. My clinical work has made me aware of the importance of the appropriate use of antibiotics, which is why I have participated in several initiatives, including pediatric antimicrobial stewardship program (PROA-NEN). Research is essential to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and at a hospital such as Vall d’Hebron, it is crucial that research and clinical practice go hand in hand. From 2010 to 2014, I was the principal investigator of the VHIR Research Group on Infections in Immunocompromised Pediatric Patients, which I currently lead. In this field, I have been involved in more than 30 national and international projects, contributed to more than 300 publications in indexed journals, and achieved an h-index of 40. I have also presented more than 300 communications at national and international scientific meetings and supervised 10 doctoral theses.
