I am a Spinal Surgery Consultant at the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology department of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. I am also an investigator at the Vertebral Column Research Unit of the VHIR.

I obtained my Bachelor Degree with High DIstinction in Biology in 2005 and later on my Medical Degree from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 2009, where I received the Penrose Award, an honorary annual award given to an outstanding undergraduate on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and contribution to university life.

I completed my MIR residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona) in 2015.

Later I did a fellowship in spine surgery lasting two years at the Queen's Medical Center - Nottingham University Hospital; recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons, who granted me honorary membership as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS)

In 2018, I obtained a doctorate in Surgery and Morphological Sciences with the qualification of "Excellent with international distinction" by the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. My doctoral thesis "Surgical Site Infections in Spinal Surgery: From Risk Factors to Outcomes", addresses a review of the risk factors of Surgical Site Infection (SSI) in spine surgery, as well as its impact on the final result and the patient. This thesis won the prize for the best doctoral thesis in the 1st Research and Innovation Conference of the Quirónsalud Group in 2019 as well as other prizes awarded by the British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS), the Spanish Society of Spine Surgery (GEER) and the European Spinal Surgery Society (EuroSpine). I am an active member of the previous societies as well as of AOSpine.

I authored several peer reviewed scientific articles and book chapters published in indexed journals and reference books for spinal surgery and spinal pathologies. I have presented numerous presentations and chaired sessions at national and international meetings and courses.

I currently work as a spinal surgery consultant at the Vall d'Hebrón University Hospital, where I also carry out my research activity as an investigator at the Vall d'Hebrón Research Institute (VHIR). I also work at the Spine Unit of the Hospital Quirónsalud Barcelona (Barcelona Spine Institute – BSI)
