Bioengineering, Cell Therapy and Surgery in Congenital Malformations

The research group is composed by clinical researchers (pediatric surgeons, traumatologists, neonatologists and obstetricians) and basic researchers (biochemists, biotechnologists and biologists). Our multidisciplinary team has an extensive expertise in the field of biomedical research and a strong translational spirit to the human clinic. The main objectives of our research are addressed to:

  • The study of the causes and pathophysiology of human congenital malformations.
  • The development of new treatments based on innovative surgical techniques, bioengineering and cell therapy focused on tissue regeneration and addressed to the treatment of these severe pathologies.

In addition, our research team has extensive experience in the field of regenerative medicine and nanomedicine especially focused on the development of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of musculoskeletal and osteoarticular pathologies and we are currently participating in highly innovative projects both at national and international level.
