Multiple Sclerosis Biomarkers Study

We are looking for 100 healthy volunteers aged 18 years or older to participate in a research study on multiple sclerosis. The study will evaluate the usefulness of serum biomarkers to predict the prognosis of the disease and the response to treatments. This study is led by Dr. Georgina Arrambide, neurologist at the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia (Cemcat) and principal investigator of the Clinical Neuroimmunology group of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).

The study is funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III.

How does the study work?

All healthy volunteers will have a single visit with a neurologist at Cemcat to assess whether they meet the criteria for participation in the study, and will complete a brief personal data questionnaire that will be pseudo-anonymized. Afterwards, the participants will undergo a blood extraction for the measurement of biomarkers.

Participation in the study is completely voluntary and there is no financial compensation.

Who can participate in the study?

Volunteers who would like to participate in the study must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Not be a first-degree relative (sibling, parent, child) of a person diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
  • Be considered healthy subjects (no known neurological or systemic diseases, including common diseases such as hypertension or diabetes) and no history of head injury in the last 6 months.
