New Technologies and Craniofacial Microsurgery

The aim of the group is to research and develop new technologies and treatments in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Our work is structured around three major axes: Personalized surgery, minimally invasive surgery in maxillofacial cancer, and rare tumours located in the maxillofacial area.

  • Personalized Surgery: the work in this field has been crystallized in a European project called "Custom Surgery Service: Effectiveness, Safety and Quality in Surgery and implementation of custom 3D prostheses/implants "(3D LAB), whose main objective is the design and implementation of a new custom Surgery assistive model, which merges new digital technologies, 3D printing and results evaluation, both from a medical perspective and focused on the quality of life and well-being of patients.
  • Minimally invasive surgery in maxillofacial cancer: sentinel node biopsy technique, laser surgery for the treatment of potentially malignant oral lesions (OPMDs) and regenerative surgery applied to oncology.
  • Rare tumours of the maxillofacial area, with special emphasis on malignant salivary gland tumours.
