Research Group on Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures

The Research Group on Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures is a young and emerging team, consolidated in national and international clinical research and in the comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to epilepsy. The scientific challenge of the group is based on understanding, improving and strengthening knowledge about the different fields of epilepsy and how to help solve problems related to epileptic seizures and their consequences.

Among the different projects of the group, it is worth mentioning the search for new biomarkers related to the mechanisms of epileptogenesis, obtaining tools and biomarkers to help diagnose status epilepticus and predict its prognosis, the acquisition of neuroimaging parameters and their relationship with the cognitive status of patients, and other studies to accelerate the diagnostic processes and optimize the therapeutic management of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
