Speaker: Dr. Lluís Montoliu, research Scientist at CSIC - Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology - National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC)

Abstract: This seminar will address how the diverse genome editing tools have evolved over the recent years, including the various CRISPR variants and other unrelated methods that have appeared in the scientific literature. The seminar will summarize what has been achieved using these gene editing tools in biological, biomedical and biotechnological applications, underlying their benefits and capacities as well as their limitations and challenges. The focus of this seminar will be on the development of innovative gene therapy approaches using these genome editing tools.
