Successful 6th edition of the Nick Horta Race, which took place on Sunday 20 after selling all the numbers. All the benefits will donated to VHIR.

More than 1,000 runners committed to biomedical research participated on Sunday 20th in the Nick Horta Race that in this edition will give all the funds raised to Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR). The winner of the male category was Mohamed Agouzal, from Club Montornès, with a record of 15:59, and the female winner was Hasna Bahom, from Club Sansi, with a record of 18:44 for the 5 kilometers of the circuit.

Both athletes said that the purpose of the race was an extra motivation for them. Especially for Hasna, who changed her plans for going to Horta: "I changed my holidays because I wanted to participate in this race and to enjoy this environment. I wish all the races were like this one, with all the benefits for research against diseases".

Behind the organization of the race is the athlete María José Moscoso, from Nick Spa gym, who in January of 2013 was diagnosed with hepatic cancer and after a few months, received a liver transplantation at Vall d'Hebron hospital. She says that since then, her life changed and that was one of the reasons why she organizes this race: "I had to leave the elite sport and I started a new stage in my life with a clear goal: to contribute to the fight against cancer".

To support this race, VHIR's ambassadors, Andrés Iniesta and Judit Mascó have done promotional videos. Several people from the field of sports and television have also promoted the race, such as the Espanyol players, Caicedo, Javi López and Víctor Sánchez, the motorcycle rider Aleix Espagaró, the journalist Arcadi Alibés, the meteorologist  Tomàs Molina, the athlete Reyes Estévez or the composer Pedro Pardo.
