Dr. Jordi Petriz from VHIR and president of SIC has signed an agreement with SEI and Universidad de Valladolid

The "http://www.citometria.org/" Iberian Society of Cytometry (SIC), led by Dr. Jordi Petriz from the Research Unit in Biomedicine and Translational Oncology at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), signed a collaboration agreement with the "http://www.inmunologia.org/home.php" Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI) and "http://www.uva.es/portal/paginas/portada" Universidad de Valladolid for unifying quality control criteria. The agreement will enable researchers to compare the results obtained in the 67 Spanish and Portuguese laboratories which participate, with the aim to improve the diagnosis in organ transplantations, blood stem cells and diseases such as leukemia, allergies, lymphomas, AIDS, lupus and diabetes. Participating in this project, labs could improve the reliability in the diagnosis, as a necessary requirement to be accredited by the 15189 and 17043 ISO standards and by the ENAC (Spanish Accreditation Institute).Historically, both SIC and SEI implemented and improved inter comparison programmes of several diagnostic parameters and monitoring of patients with different diseases, to guarantee the quality of cell studies based on flow cytometry, which are done in these hospital laboratories. Taking into account the similarity of both programmes and in order to avoid duplications, both entities have started looking for synergies in the field of quality programmes based on flux cytometry.According to Dr. Petriz from VHIR, these synergies are "necessary to provide strength and consistency to this future proposal for improving quality and inter comparison in this area".
