Adrián Rodríguez visits with FADAM the childhood cancer laboratories

Actor and excontestant of 'Tu Cara Me Suena', Adrián Rodríguez, has returned to Vall d'Hebron accompanied by Antonio Manzanares, President of the http://www.asociacionfadam.org/" Association of Relatives and Friends of ángel Manzanares, and of their family, to know the evolution of the work of the members of the Group of translational research in Cancer in Childhood and the Adolescence of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). The visit comes some months after Adrián donated the award received in one of the gala of the show, and after the multiple actions that FADAM has made for the research in Paediatric Oncology. During the visit, researchers of the VHIR explained to them the research in course on the ependymoma, a type of brain tumour that affects about one of every 200,000 people, and is therefore considered a minority disease. The location of the tumour and its aggressiveness gives patients very limited therapeutic options. In addition, it is a type of tumour that has been studied very little, due to the lack of animal and cellular models for doing research. Dr. Miquel Segura, principal investigator of this disease in VHIR, explained to them that the Group of Translational Research in Cancer in Childhood and Adolescence, with the support of FADAM, is committed to research this type of tumour, to "try to improve a few existing research models, and thus deepen the molecular understanding of the disease and provide new therapeutic alternatives". FADAM aims to help boys and girls diagnosed with cancer, the disease that swept away the life of ángel Manzanares, when he was only 6 years old. Since its foundation in 2006, the association has made numerous activities of dissemination and donations for research that are helping researchers to advance faster in the design of new treatments for childhood cancer.
