09/07/2013 Adults with eating disorders have a poorer prognosis if they suffer hyperactivity 09/07/2013 VHIR's study, in collaboration with researchers from IDIBELL, has been published in BMC Psychiatry A study conducted by researchers from the Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions group at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and from the group of Psychiatry and Mental Health of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) revealed that symptoms of hyperactivity disorder attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are associated with more impulsivity and more severity, and probably a worse prognosis in patients with eating disorders.The study, with 191 patients, has allowed to develope a model that might be useful in clinical for an early detection of risk factors that could lead to eating disorders.ADHD in adults is poorly studied and, although several studies have reported associations between this disorder and abnormal eating behaviour, so far it had not been described associations between ADHD and eating disorders in adults.The results of the study have been published in the online edition of the journal "http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-244X/13/166" BMC Psychiatry.
