VHIR researchers organized 12 workshops

Last Saturday 21st of March was a very special day for us. We opened our doors to the people we love to show them what do we do in Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).Throughout the morning, around 200 relatives of our colleagues attended one of the 12 guided visits scheduled, after previous enrolment. All visits started in the Collserola building with a funny video played by children of VHIR workers. In the video they explained the important work performed by VHIR researchers, and show the facilities of the center. All tours passed through any of the following workshops organized by VHIR researchers: “ "http://www.vhir.org/global/pdf/noticies/p%C3%B2ster%20nanopart%C3%ADcules.pdf" Nanoparticles and tumor tissues”, organized by researchers of the CIBBIM-Nanomedecine in Drug Delivery and Targeting group“What do cells look like and how can we recognize their nucleus?”, organized by researchers of the Gynecology and Urology Biomedical Research Group.“What do lungs look like under a microscope?", organized by Dr. Maria Jesús Cruz, head of the Pneumonology group. “ "http://www.vhir.org/global/pdf/noticies/P%C3%B2ster%20maduixes%20UAT.pdf" Extract DNA from strawberries!”, organized by Rosa Arjona, from the High Technology Unite. "http://www.vhir.org/global/pdf/noticies/p%C3%B2ster%20com%20%C3%A9s%20al%20microscopi%20UAT.pdf" “¿What does it look like in the microscope?”, organized by Dr. Rosa Prieto, from the High Technology Unit. “Synthesis and applications of inorganic nanoparticles in diagnosis and detoxification”, organized by Dr. Víctor Puntes, head of the Nanoparticles and Pharmacokinetics group.“Murine models for investigating diabetes and obesity”, organized by Dr. David Martínez, researcher in the Diabetes and Metabolism group. “How does a neuron work?”, organized by Sandra Iborra and Dr. Celine Perier, researchers of the Neurodegenerative Diseases group. Apart from the tour, visitors also could build a DNA molecule with baubles and decorate a mural of the human body, thanks to the researchers of the Gynecology and Urology laboratory, learn "www.vhir.org/global/pdf/noticies/pòster biomarcador.pdf" "http://www.vhir.org/global/pdf/noticies/p%C3%B2ster%20biomarcador.pdf" why biomarkers are useful, through a didactic game designed by the director of the Biobanc HUVH, Dr. Isabel Novoa, and take a photograph in the laboratory as if they were VHIR researchers.Without the effort of all the people who made the workshops, and the guides and the volunteers of the structural area of the VHIR, the day wouldn’t have been as much successful. Now we want to repeat it, changing a little bit the format to be able to open VHIR to all the citizens, coinciding with the party we are organizing for our 20th aniversary.
