In April 2017, the INTEREST study group (INTernational Endoprosthesis REgistry for Sarcoma Treatment) was created, of which Dr. Vélez is part and which has now been awarded.

A work led by Dr. Roberto Vélez, principal investigator of the http://www.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?t=enginyeria-tissular-musculoesqueletica&s=recerca&contentid=187132 Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering Research Group at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), has received the award for the best collaborative research during the Annual Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Congress, MSTS.In April 2017, the INTEREST study group (International Endoprosthesis Registry for Sarcoma Treatment) was created. Dr. Vélez is part of the group as a principal investigator, with the objective of creating an international prospective database, to improve the results of reconstructions with endoprosthesis after tumor resections. Thus, during the first three months of this year, they carried out a survey among 98 international researchers collaborating with the PARITY study, to determine both the potential for researchers' participation and the ability to finance the industry. This survey included questions about demographic data, contact information, experience level, research support, and preferred implant companies. It was concluded that there is a solid group of international researchers willing to participate in the INTEREST Study Group. In addition, the annual endoprotheic procedures within the study group will allow for a more detailed and wider analysis based on the prospective database. On the other hand, taking into account annual endoprotesic costs, industry support will be sought for this project. In carrying out this work, participated also Dr. Matías Vicente, resident physician of the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Department of Vall d'Hebron and doctors Michelle Ghert and Patricia Schenider from the McMaster University in Hamilton.
