Rugby and Barbería de Gràcia have made a financial contribution to prostate cancer research at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). This collection, of more than 500 euros, was made under the Movember campaign.Some players and part of the technical team of Barça Rugby as well as the manager of Barbería de Gràcia visited the VHIR facilities to see how the researchers work in the research of improvements for prostate cancer. In this way, the two collaborating entities have been able to know first-hand where the financial contributions they collected under the Movember campaign, promoted last November, will go.During the visit, Anna Santamaría and Mireia Olivan, principal investigators of the Cell Cycle and Cancer group of the http://es.vhir.org/web_vhir/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186717 Biomedical Research in Gynecology and Rosanna Paciucci, principal investigator of the http://es.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?t=recerca-biomedica-en-urologia&s=recerca&contentid=186757 Biomedical Research in Urology group, explained the incidence of prostate cancer at present, as well as the advances that are taking place thanks to the research they are carrying out in this field. During the talk, the doctor and head of the Urology Department, Juan Morote, insisted on the need for funds to continue the research and stressed that "VHIR is a very important centre, as it allows research projects to be anchored to clinical needs".It should be remembered that Movember is a campaign that is carried out during the month of November on a worldwide scale with the aim of raising funds for research into diseases related to men such as prostate cancer or testicular cancer, among others.
