During 2020, it evaluated 105 clinical trials proposals, the highest number in Spain for the fifth consecutive year.

In 2020, the Ethics Committee for Drug Research (CEIm) of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital was the committee that evaluated the most proposals for clinical trials out of a total of 90 CEIm accredited in the State. The CEIm is in charge of making an ethical-methodological evaluation of the protocols of clinical trials with drugs that are presented. Although most of the requests come from Vall d'Hebron study promoters, there are also other institutions, since any center in the State can choose which CEIm will evaluate their proposal.Last year, the CEIm in Vall d'Hebron evaluated 105 clinical trials, becoming for the fifth consecutive year the first active center ahead of the 12 de Octubre and Gregorio Marañón Hospitals in Madrid, with 61 and 60 proposals respectively. In relation to previous years, Vall d'Hebron evaluated 103 clinical trials in 2019, 94 in 2018, 95 in 2017 and 120 in 2016. This high activity is a reflection of the confidence that promoters of clinical trials have in the good service and criterion that is offered in Vall d'Hebron, as well as efficiency in resolutions. The CEIm in the State, when evaluating proposals for clinical trials with drugs, work together with the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) with the aim of improving the quality, direction and relevance of the studies that are intended to be developed.
