24/05/2013 The commitment for detecting knowledge and transfer it to the market focuses the Innovation Meeting at VHIR 24/05/2013 The Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Unit at VHIR organizes a contest addressed to professionals from Vall d’Hebron Detecting knowledge generated in the labs and the hospital, in order to monitor it, protect it and transfer it to the market has been one of the goals of the "http://www.vhir.org/DDGRecerca/DOCENCIAACTIVITATS/2013/2013_0110/2013_0110_002.pdf" Innovation Meeting, organized by the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Unit at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), celebrated the 24th of May with the sponsorship of Roche. To promote innovation among researchers, doctors and nurses from Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (HUVH), the Institute has organized a contest. The first prize is 5,000 euros and is addressed to any worker from HUVH and VHIR, there is another 5,000 prize only for nurses, and two consolation prizes of 2,500 euros for each of these categories. According to the head of Innovation at VHIR, Raquel Egea, the contest will not only be positive for detecting and monitoring projects, but also for “attracting companies and investors with the knowledge generated in the hospital”. For that reason, continues VHIR’s director, Dr. Joan X. Comella, it is crucial that researches and companies go hand in hand in all the stages: “Our vision of innovation is much more than creating spin-offs. If we want to arrive to the market, we have to go from the beginning to the end with those who are already working in the market”. The general manager of the hospital, Dr. José J. Navas, who also participated in the meeting, highlighted the mission of the institution that represents, whose aim is “offering to patients the benefits of the most advanced knowledge”. He pointed out the important role of nurses in the generation of knowledge, together with the director of nursery in the hospital, Montserrat Artigas, who described their innovative profile.After the presentation of the contest, that will have the inscriptions open until the 31st of July, were celebrated two round tables: one about innovation and economic crisis, led by Ángel Lanuza, coordinator of the Spanish technological innovation platform in health at Fenin, and Oriol Alcoba, director of knowledge transfer at ACC10, and another one about what companies value in order to invest in biomedical projects, led by Dr. Artur Palet, Business Development director at Roche, Dr. Andrés Fernández, innovation director at Ferrer, and Dr. Jaume Raventós, director of d’eHealth España Telefónica.
