The Nursing Care Research Awards aim to shed light on the contribution of Spanish nurses to health care research.

In the third edition of the Nursing Care Research Awards of the Hospital Puerta del Hierro, through which the Community of Madrid recognizes the research work of nursing professionals, Dr. Esperanza Zuriguel, healthcare research coordinator at Vall d'Hebron Hospital and head of the http://en.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=187026 Health Care Research group at VHIR, has received the award for best publication for the article "Development and Psychometric Properties of the Nursing Critical Thinking in Clinical Practice Questionnaire". This study aims to develop and validate the psychometric properties of the Nursing Critical Thinking in Clinical Practice Questionnaire, designed to assess the critical thinking skills of nurses in the clinical setting.Two other awards were given in this edition: the best project on health care research at a national level was for the the work "Early mobilization in the Intensive Care Unit: MOviPRE project" led by Marta Raurell of the University of Barcelona. The second award went to Cristina Oter for a multicenter project led by the Autonomous University of Madrid, which aims to identify the needs of nursing care in people affected by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome-Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.This awards ceremony was held within the framework of the VII Nursing Research Day, which this year had the motto 'Care without borders: diversity in health-illness throughout life', and was attended by the Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero.In this edition of the awards, a total of 30 works, 17 research projects and 13 publications from the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Cantabria, Catalonia, Extremadura and Madrid have been presented. The papers presented are led by nurses throughout Spain who carry out their activities in different areas: hospitals, universities, primary care centers and nursing homes, among others.The jury that valued these awards has been composed of 21 nurses from nine different autonomous communities with knowledge in Research Methodology that belong to different fields.This type of initiatives aims to shed light on the health care research work nurses are carrying out, on the benefits of the transfer of research results to the clinical practice, on the management of resources and services, on teaching innovation and on a many fields addressed by nurses from many different healthcare areas.
