20/08/2015 Don't throw away plastic caps 20/08/2015 Test text newsletter The Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) has added to the "Tapones solidarios" "http://www.asdent.es/colabora/tapones-solidarios/" campaign to collect plastic caps promoted by the association of patients "asdent.es" "http://www.asdent.es/" Asdent. To this day they have collected more than 200 tons of caps that will result in funds to support the research about Dent's disease. One more challenge for this association, chaired by Eva Giménez, mother of a 5 year-old child with this rare disease of the kidney.Dent's disease is a rare X-linked recessive inherited condition that exclusively affects the kidney. It causes the loss of essential proteins for the organism and the expulsion through the urine of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and glucose. There is no treatment available to cure the disease and the future of these patients is uncertain. With initiatives like this cap collection we can advance in the research of this rare disease that in Spain affects 38 people.A year ago Asdent and VHIR "VHIR signs a collaboration agreement with the association of patients with Dent's disease" "http://www.vhir.org/portal1/news-detail.asp?s=actualitat&contentid=171579" signed a collaboration agreement with the aim to channel the donations to the association meant for research, studies or clinical trials through the Institute, and to contribute to the promotion of awareness campaigns about Dent's disease. In this line, next October 15, there will be a projection at the Hospital of the documentary "El Reto de Eva" "http://www.elretodeeva.com/" "El Reto de Eva" that narrates Eva's fight to raise funds for research in the rare disease that has her son Nacho.
