Dr. Ariadna Laguna will be a Science Ambassador at the 2022 World Parkinson Congress

Dr. Miquel Vila will be a member of the organizing and steering committee of the congress, which will be held in Barcelona in June 2022.

The organization of the https://wpc2022.org/ World Parkinson Congress (WPC) has announced this month the Science Ambassadors who will help promote the sixth edition of this international meeting that will take place in Barcelona in 2022. Among the chosen people is Dr. Ariadna Laguna, researcher of the group of Neurodegenerative Diseases at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the only ambassador in the State.The eight Science Ambassadors of the congress, coming from six different countries, have the mission of helping to promote the World Parkinson Congress in order to achieve maximum participation from professionals working on this disease. "It is an honor to be an ambassador for WPC 2022. This is a first-rate, inclusive scientific meeting with the community of patients and caregivers, an excellent meeting point for scientists to keep up to date on the main advances in clinical and basic research around Parkinson's, as well as an opportunity to listen to the needs of the community and explain the results of our research to society", explains Dra. Laguna.The Science Ambassadors have been chosen for their extensive experience in Parkinson's research as well as their connection to people who have Parkinson's and, therefore, support the need for scientists to interact with patients to gain knowledge about the disease. The 2022 World Parkinson CongressThe World Parkinson Congress is a triennial meeting that allows researchers, health professionals, patients and caregivers to share their ideas with the aim of sharing the latest advances in the disease research, as well as promoting improvements in the care of people with Parkinson's.The sixth edition will be held in June 2022 in Barcelona. On this occasion, Dr. Miquel Vila, head of the Neurodegenerative Diseases group at VHIR, co-leads the local organizing committee together with Dr. Eduard Tolosa (Hospital Clínic-Universitat de Barcelona) and is part of the steering committee of the congress, which is expected to attract more than 4,500 people. "Hosting WPC 2022 will be an incredible experience and we invite everyone who works or lives with Parkinson's to participate", concludes Dr. Vila.
