Dr. Luis Cabero, responsible for Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute, expresses his views on the 2010 Medicine Nobel Prize for Robert G. Edwards, 'father' of fertilization in vitro. "It is a great tribute to Edwards work, that not only advances in conception, but also opened a new research line of the elements that control early processes of embryonic development, a very important factor in all advances that have occurred since, such as control of diseases in the nest or growth retardation. Even there are clues in the immunological processes that control these mechanisms and subsequent embryo."
