Dr. Manel Comabella, member of Clinical Neuroimmunonology group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute has received a research grant from Merck Serono 2010 (from Health foundation 2000) for the clinic investigation of Multiple Esclerosis. This grant is going to be used to look for alternative bioactivity signs of interferon-beta apart from MXA protein, and identify new signs of IFN’s treatment that specifically induce type 1 IFN and which could cause innmunity modification at Multiple esclerosis. The 20,000 euros grant is one of those for unpublished research fund projects in seven areas of research. In the area of Clinical Research in Oncology, Dr. Josep Tabernero, from Hospital Universitario Vall d'Hebron, has also received support for the project 'pharmacodynamic analysis to identify biomarkers predictive of response and resistance to biological treatment of colon cancer patients'.
