The Medioforum group has given the 'ConSalud Initiative of the Year' award to the http://www.gutmicrobiotaforhealth.com/en/home/" Gut Microbiota for Health platform, launched by the http://www.esnm.eu/" European Society for Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM). Dr. Fernando Azpiroz, head of the Physiology and Pathophysiology of the Digestive Tract group, received the award as president of the Gut Microbiota & Health of the ESNM, in the event that took place on Monday at Madrid's Real Casa de Correos.Gut Microbiota for Health was launched in 2012 to share knowledge and promote debate regarding about microbiota. Its goal is to raise awareness of and interest in the gut's bacterial community and its importance for people's health and quality of life both among the scientific and medical community and society in general. With more than 15,000 members around the globe, the platform has become and international benchmark for gut microbiota information and debate.The objective of the ConSalud 2016 awards was to recognize the work being done by professionals, companies, patient associations and institutions linked with the health sector. The election of the finalists was done by an internal selection of the most viewed news of 2015 in the online newspaper ConSalud.es, and the programs that according to the editorial board were important in that year for each category.
