22/11/2019 Dr. Ignacio Ferreira receives a grant from the Merck Salud Foundation to develop a monitoring app on patients with cardiovascular diseases 22/11/2019 The objective of the project is to evaluate the impact of remote monitoring (through an app) of patients who have undergone a coronary syndrome. Dr. Ferreira González, head of the VHIR http://en.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186805 Cardiovascular Disease Research Group and head of the Cardiology Service at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, has been awarded with a grant by the Merck Health Foundation for Research in Health Outcomes 2019 for the project "Evaluation of the effectiveness of the follow-up through the application of patients treated in a consultation of rehabilitation and control of cardiovascular risk." The budget is 10.000 euros that will be used to finance part of the program.Research on health outcomes aims to analyze and quantify the results generated by different health interventions in the usual medical practice. The purpose is to obtain information that allows evaluating whether certain health services maintain or increase the perceived health of patients and the experience of the assistance received. An App for effective monitoring of patients who have had a cardiovascular eventIschemic heart disease is still one of the main causes of mortality in the world, although in recent years there have been major advances in the prevention and treatment of patients with coronary heart disease. One of the key reasons for the persistence of high morbidity and mortality in these patients is the lack of compliance with the protocols of prevention after an acute ischemic episode. The objective of the project is to evaluate the impact of remote monitoring (by means of an app) of patients who have undergone a coronary syndrome by controlling risk factors, developing measures to improve therapeutic adherence, promote healthy habits and optimize pharmacological treatment. Patients will be recruited before and after the monitoring system and will be monitored for a period of 12 months to measure costs and results compared to the usual care model.Patient tracking will be followed by an app (FARMALARM) for mobile devices developed and validated at the Vall d'Hebron stroke unit. This application wants to implement a model of attention based on the value that it incorporates to measure the health outcomes perceived by the same patient and their level of satisfaction. This protocol is part of a broader project that involves the implementation of a specialized risk assessment and cardiac rehabilitation in the Cardiology Department of the Vall d'Hebron Hospital. This consultation will be controlled by a cardiologist and a nurse specializing in cardiology so that the follow-up of the risk factors performed by specialized personnel has been seen to improve the care and outcomes of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
