Dr. Jordi Bañeras, cardiologist at University Hospital Vall d'Hebron and researcher at the http://en.vhir.org/portal1/area.asp?s=recerca&contentid=1274 Research Group of Cardiovascular Diseases of VHIR, New Ambassador at the Young Acute Cardiovascular Care Community (YAC³,).Last Friday 13th of July, Dr. Bañeras was appointed as Young National Ambassador in Spain. The YAC³, is a community that gathers the active professionals in the health field that are below 40 years old that are specialized in the acute cardiovascular care. It belongs to the Acute Cardiovascular Care Association (ACCA).It is an open community to any doctor involved with the care of patients with acute cardiovascular diseases, with the goal to share knowledge and build an international line of work. The main goal of this association is to create a network of people that represent the YOUNG ACCA and the YAC³, in their own countries, appointing several Young National Ambassadors (YNA). These members will be a link between the committee from the Young ACCA, their community, YAC³, and the national and local groups.Dr. Bañeras was the main author of a study developed by Vall d'Hebron Campus Hospitalari and CIBER in the cardiovascular diseases area (CIBERCV). The study demonstrated that during the days with higher atmospheric pollution within the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, more heart attacks occur. The study, published at the https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29056239 International Journal Cardiology, was the first study to demonstrate that pollution participates in the mortality within the first 24h after a heart attack with an elevation of ST, and it is the first study linking pollution with a higher incidence in ventricular fibrillation.
