Dr. Magda Campins, head of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute's Epidemiology and Public Health Research Group (VHIR) and head of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, has won the #Admirables 2021 award in the category of Medicine. These awards are an initiative of Diario Médico and Correo Farmacéutico, two newspapers specializing in the hospital and pharmaceutical field, to recognize the commitment and effort of health professionals in a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. The #Admirables 2021 awards aim to continue to thank them for their dedication and care and human work.Thus, in a first phase 15 professionals from four categories (Nursing, Research, Pharmacy and Medicine, 60 professionals in total) were chosen finalists for the #Admirables 2021 awards through a public vote held on the Diario Médico website. The 10 most voted in each category went to the second phase, in which a professional jury chose the #Admirables 2021: five people from Nursing, Research, Pharmacy and Medicine."I am very happy for this award because it is a recognition for all the professionals of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service", says Dr. Magda Campins. Also, Master in Clinical Management and Organization of Health Services (Autonomous University of Barcelona). In 2009 she received the award for Professional Excellence from the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona. In the teaching field, she is a professor of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at the UAB Faculty of Medicine and a lecturer in the Interuniversity Master's in Public Health. UPF / UAB.Dr. Magda Campins has been one of the most visible faces in the fight against the pandemic as she is the head of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, the largest hospital in Catalonia and the one that has treated most COVID-19 patients. This Service has carried out the massive screenings of the nursing homes in the reference area of Vall d'Hebron and is participating in the vaccination program for health professionals and people of high vulnerability.In the field of research, she leads the Research Group in Epidemiology and Public Health of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), from which she is participating in various clinical trials related to COVID-19 vaccines such as Janssen one, as well as in a study that tracks the adverse effects that vaccines cause.
