Dr. Mar Tintoré, named Vice-President of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS)

Body Dr. Mar Tintoré, neurologist of the Clinical Neuroimmunology Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, principal investigator of the Clinical Neuroimmunology research group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and clinical coordinator of Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia (Cemcat), has been named Vice-President of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS). It is the largest professional society in the world dedicated to deepening the knowledge (education and dissemination), research and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), for the benefit of patients suffering from this disease. The appointment took place during the last world congress of the society, which was held virtually from 11 to 13 September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She will hold the position for another two years and then, automatically in accordance with the company's articles of association, she will become the President of ECTRIMS. The annual ECTRIMS conference brings together more than 10,000 health professionals around MS. Body "It is a great honor and a huge responsibility to become the Vice-President of ECTRIMS at a time with so many challenges. It is essential that research and teaching activity in multiple sclerosis is not slowed down in a context of SARS-CoV-2, which makes it difficult for people to exchange", says Dr. Mar Tintoré. In addition to the annual conference, ECTRIMS organizes summer and winter schools and various workshops and has an extensive scholarship program for specialists in multiple sclerosis. Body Dr. Xavier Montalbán, director of Cemcat, head of the Clinical Neuroimmunology Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and head of the Clinical Neuroimmunology research group at VHIR, was President of ECTRIMS between 2014 and 2016 and was President of the Organizing Committee of the ECTRIMS congress in 2015, which was held in Barcelona and was the first one to exceed 9,000 registered professionals.
