07/02/2012 Dr. Margarita Salas opens on March 9 the 1st edition of 'Women and Science' at VHIR 07/02/2012 VHIR will organize in March the first edition of the cycle 'Women and Science'. Structured in four meetings in four consecutive weeks, the opening session will take place on March 9 with the conference 'Woman and Science: my own experience' by Dr. Margarita Salas, who has dedicated all her life to science, overcoming obstacles and adversities. Dr. Salas’ intense scientific career has been honoured with many recognitions and awards.The second session is a Round Table that will take place on March 15 under the title 'Opportunities and challenges' with experts in different areas. François Arcand is a recognised bioentrepreneur with international experience, Dr. Edurne Berra leads a research group at CICbioGUNE of the Technological Park of Biscay, Dr. Fabienne Hermitte is co-founder of IPSOGEN (Marseille) and coordinates its i+D Department and Dr. Montse Vendrell is the director the platform Biocat. The Table will be moderated by Dr. Anna Meseguer, head of the Kidney Physiopathology group at VHIR and also advisor to the director for clinical research.In the third meeting, on March 22, there will be a one day Coaching Workshop conducted by Yellow Window Consultants, accredited and co-financed by the European Commission. The workshop has limited places, and is open to VHIR researchers, as well as those coming from other research centers. The cycle will finish on March 29 with the closing conference of Carmen Vela, an experienced researcher and entrepreneur.
