Dr. Mercè Boada received on October 2 the medal Josep Trueta to the sanitary merit from the Catalan Government in an act that took place in the site of the Autonomous government of Catalonia.This award highlights the career of Dr. Mercè Boada at work in the field of dementia, particularly Alzheimer's disease, as one of the architects of the Fundació ACE. And also for his work as section chief of the Neurology Department of the Hospital de la Vall d'Hebron and head of the research group in Alzheimer at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).Throughout her career Dr. Boada coordinated model of care for people with cognitive impairment and dementia in Catalonia, was technical secretary Psychogeriatrics Council of Catalonia, President of the Advisory Council for the pharmacological treatment for Alzheimer's disease and member of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia.Currently, Dr. Mercè Boada is part of the group of experts to prepare recommendations and standards of quality and safety in health care centers and the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality, and leads the Cognitive Health Observatory, Autonomy and Competition (OBSCAC).Regarding research activities, Dr. Mercè Boada has participated in over 100 international drug trials for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, as well as numerous projects on neurodegenerative diseases and has co-authored several articles on cognitive stimulation, participating in the design of a multimedia tool "Smartbrain". In recent years, as medical director of ACE Foundation, has developed a DNA bank for genetic research with more than 6,000 samples. Dr. Mercè Boada has more than 100 scientific articles, and 40 book chapters and 14 books collective medical release. Since 1998, she is the coordinator of the Barcelona-Pittsburgh Biennial Conference, organized jointly with the Alzheimer Disease Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh.
