More than 3.500 professionals have exchanged knowledge in Barcelona

Dr. Xavier Montalban, head of the Clinical Neuroimmunology group at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center in Catalonia (Cemcat), has been the chairman of the "http://www.congrex.ch/ens2013" 23rd Meeting of the European Neurological Society, held in Barcelona from the 8th to the 11th of June. More than 3.500 professionals from all around the world have attended this congress which has offered plenty of learning opportunities in every subspeciality of Neurology, and discussions in the last therapies for diseases such as Alzheimer, Epilepsy, Parkinson and Multiple Sclerosis. Sleep and smell disorders have also focused some lectures, as Diario Médico reports in the article “Sueño y olfato, focos rojos en neuropatologías”. In this report, Dr. Montalban alerts that smell diseases may represent a premonitory value in the detection of disorders that affect the central nervous system, like the case of multiple sclerosis. A neurodegenerative disorder without any cure yet, which has a long way to run in the application of personalized therapies, as Dr. Montalban explains in the article.
