Vall d'Hebron takes care every year of 130 children with tumors

La Vanguardia' and 'El Punt Avui' publish two articles on the increase of the microdonations that canalize the relatives and friends of the children with cancer. For Dr. Josep Sánchez of Toledo, head of the of paediatric oncology at hematology at VHIR, the familiar participation increases because "everybody feels participant of what we do". Nevertheless, he makes clear that "the main financing source are 'competitive calls', grants to which they present the projects".His team works in five research lines: solid tumors, leukaemias, hematologic diseases not cancerous, precursor hematopoietic stem cells transplantion and the psychological investigation of the patient and the family. VHIR's researchers look for new targets to direct new treatments and the formula to deactivate the routes that cancer uses to progress.Vall d'Hebron University Hospital takes care every year of 130 children with tumors and practises from 40 to 50 transplants of bone marrow. These children com from Spain, Latin America and the north of Africa.
