Is the only Spanish researcher member of this scientific government agency

Dr. Simó Schwartz, head of the CIBBIM- Nanomedicine Drug Delivery and Targeting group at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), has been named member of the evaluation panels of basic disease mechanisms: Molecular, cellular and biochemical aspects, from the Medicine and Health area by the "http://www.vr.se/inenglish.4.12fff4451215cbd83e4800015152.html" Swedish Research Council, the highest agency to allocating funds for research in Sweden.The Swedish Research Council, which belongs to the Swedish Ministry of Education and Research, was established in 2001 with the aim of supporting and developing the Swedish scientific research and make Sweden a world leader in research. The organization's main objective is to distribute government funds for basic research, advise the government on scientific research and bring science closer to the Swedish population.The role of Dr. Schwartz, as a member of the evaluation panel, will be to evaluate and select the best research projects in the field of disease mechanisms: molecular, cellular and biochemical aspects for its funding. Every year, the Swedish Research Council evaluation panel, evaluate and prioritize among the more than 6,000 applications they receive, according to their scientific quality and skills of the applicants. The panels contain approximately 500 Swedish researchers and only about 10 or 12 researchers selected from across Europe. As Dr. Schwartz says, "this appointment is a great international recognition and prestige, as the number of foreign reviewers is small. For example, I’m the only Spanish researcher who is part of these evaluation panels".
