The writer and professor of Pharmacology will present her book on 14th November at Ateneu Barcelonès

Dr. Simó Schwartz, head of the CIBBIM-Nanomedicine Drug Delivery group at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), is one of the scientific advisors of the second book written by "http://amalialafuente.blogspot.com.es/" Amàlia Lafuente, entitled "http://www.grup62.cat/llibre-terapia-de-risc-113545.html" 'Terapia de Risc' (risk therapy). It is a thriller that takes place in a scientific environment related to anti-aging therapies and cosmetic surgery. The main character of the novel is a researcher who starts working at the research institute of a new Catalan Hospital with both public and private service. Soon, a lab technician disappears, and the executive board of the hospital and the police are quick to say that it appears to be a suicide. Nonetheless, another researcher from the same hospital refuses to accept this theory. From this point, the story revolves around the mystery that will be finally unveiled. Dr. Schwartz stresses that the novel "combines very relevant topics at this moment, with an important social repercussion such as the funding of the public health care system, with fictitious stories about the human ambition and its ethical limits, everything related to the potential of research to change the social framework and people’s capacity of corruption". Amàlia Lafuente, medical doctor and professor of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine at Universitat de Barcelona, will present her new book, published by Proa and Plaza Janer, on November 14th at 7.30PM in the "http://www.ateneubcn.org/" "http://www.ateneubcn.org/" Ateneu Barcelonès.
