21/12/2011 Dr. Vila ranked as one of the top cited researchers worldwide in the field of Parkinson's disease 21/12/2011 Dr. Miquel Vila, head of the neurodegenerative diseases group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), is ranked among top 100 researchers of the world in productivity and impact in the field of Parkinson's disease, according to a study published recently by the Journal of Parkinson's Disease. The study, realized by authors of the United States and Great Britain, analyzes the productivity and impact of the 100 researchers most mentioned worldwide in this disease from 1985. Dr. Vila appears in the position 92, despite his first article dates of 1995, in the list of most-cited authors from 1 January 1985 through 17 February 2011 based on citation counts for PD papers indexed in Thomson Reuters ISI WoS and aggregated in Thomson Reuters HistCite software package (see table 1 of the attached document). With regard to list of authors with the most broad-impact citations using the same document (table 2), he occupies the 49th position, and in the list of most-cited authors from 2001 to 2010 based on citation rates for PD papers indexed in Thomson Reuters ISI WoS and aggregated in Thomson Reuters HistCite (table 4) he is in 50th position.
