Dr. Xavier Montalban, director of the https://www.cem-cat.org/ Centre of Multiple Sclerosis of Catalonia (Cemcat) and Head of the Group of Clinical Neuroimmunology of the Vall d'Hebron Institut of Research (VHIR), gave the inaugural speech of the 2016 http://www.ectrims-congress.eu/2016.html ECTRIMS Congress, held from the 14 to the 17 of September in London.

Dr. Xavier Montalban, director of the https://www.cem-cat.org/ Centre of Multiple Sclerosis of Catalonia (Cemcat) and Head of the Group of Clinical Neuroimmunology of the Vall d'Hebron Institut of Research (VHIR), gave the inaugural speech of the 2016 http://www.ectrims-congress.eu/2016.html ECTRIMS Congress, held from the 14 to the 17 of September in London. The conference focused on the diagnosis and personalized treatment of multiple sclerosis.The acronym ECTRIMS stands for the http://www.ectrims.eu/ European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Montalban, ECTRIMS is the largest professional organization dedicated to improving the understanding and treatment of the disease. CEMCAT team participated in the conference with a large number of communications (over 25), placing it among the five most productive groups globally.For four days several developments about multiple sclerosis were presented. One of the important contributions, led by Dr. Montalban (ECTRIMS) and Prof. Gold (European Academy of Neurology), is the consensus of a treatment recommendations in multiple sclerosis updated and based on the available scientific evidence so far. These recommendations will materialize in a guideline at a European level that takes into account also the voice of patients. The guide will be aimed at health professionals who share the treatment and care of people with MS, including neurologists, nurses, family physicians, neuropsychologists and ophthalmologists.
