Eurocondor project has launched a "http://www.eurocondor.eu/" new website with all the information about diabetic retinopathy research. The aim of this consortium, in which participate 18 hospitals and universities from 8 European countries, is studying if two neuroprotector therapeutic agents (somatostatina and brimonidina) administered as collyrium can anticipate or delay the evolution of this neurodegenerative disorder that represents the leading cause of blindness among working-age individuals in developed countries.Dr. Rafael Simó, head of the Diabetes and Metabolism group at VHIR, leads this European Project.
