As you know, a few weeks ago, we told you that one of their researchers,http://www.vhir.org/portal1/news-detail.asp?s=actualitat&contentid=186463 Sandra Franco, had won the National Graduation Award. So now, one of her colleagues has received a similar prize for a master's degree. Albert Torra has won the Extraordinary Prize on Neurosciences by the Universitat de Barcelona, for the Master's degree in Neurosciences that he ended in 2014 with a qualification of 9.5 out of 10.Albert explains that he started at Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) doing an internship for his degree because "I wanted to know more about neurological diseases and the mechanisms that trigger these pathologies". At Dr Miquel Vila's lab, he did his final project about the generation of in vivo experimental models which are relevant for Parkinson's disease. After this internship, he did another one for the Master's degree until he got a contract one year ago, for doing his PhD at VHIR.Now he says that his experience is really positive "it is a job that requires a lot of implication and effort, but at the same time, offers a great reward when you see that things are going well and you know that one day will be useful to improve people's health". He has three years now to do his thesis on neuroprotective molecules for Parkinson's disease and the relationship of this pathology with the immune system. Twitter LinkedIn Facebook Whatsapp
