04/06/2018 The Fundació Albert Bosch found with almost €50,000 childhood’s cancer research 04/06/2018 The money has been collected by three Girona sports associations:: the Club Ciclista BAS/Terra de Remences, the Centre Excursionista d'Olot and the Grup Excursionista, Cultural i Alpinista (GECA). The company Noel Alimentaria through the http://www.fundacioabosch.org/" Fundació Albert Bosch, has delivered a donation of 49,833 euros in the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) for research in childhood cancer.The quantity that has been given to VHIR has been achieved thanks to the solidarity of three sports organizations in Girona with the Fundación Albert Bosch: the Club Ciclista Bas / Terra de Remences, which has contributed with 1,500 euros, the Grupo Excursionista Cultural y Alpinista through their runs Piernas de Hierro y Vertikaml, with a donation of 12,668 euros and the Centro Excursionista Olot, organizer of the Ultra Trail Pisa Garrotxa, which has contributed with 35,833 euros.This donation is part of the different periodic contributions managed by the Fundació Albert Bosch, through collaboration agreements with the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute.In the act of delivery of the donations were representatives of each of the three associations as well as members of the Fundació Albert Bosch and, on behalf of the VHIR, Montse Giménez, secretary of management, Dr. José Sánchez de Toledo, head of thehttp://en.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186749 Translational Research in Child and Adolescent Cancer, and doctors Josep Roma and Miquel Segura, responsible for two lines of research in different types of childhood cancer.Dr. Josep Roma explained the work of his team "in the identification of new therapeutic targets for sarcomas and the search for new generation therapies to inhibit these targets". For his part, Dr. Segura showed his gratitude, because "these donations allow research to improve and offer therapeutic options for children who until now did not have, for example in the field of neuroblastoma," a form of cancer that starts in certain types of nerve cells in the embryo.Dr. Sánchez de Toledo said "the help they receive has allowed them to better diagnose the diseases, define more precisely the risk factors, individualize the treatments, identify new therapeutic targets and design new drugs that act only on cancer cells."For their part, the representatives of Fundació Albert Bosch and Noel Alimentaria reiterated their admiration for all VHIR professionals involved in the research and their gratitude to the three sports associations for carrying out different initiatives to raise funds.
