Tamara Gorro has donated more than 20,000 euros through the Fundación Neuroblastoma to the research group Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) to boost its research lines in high-risk neuroblastoma, a very aggressive type of pediatric tumor with very few therapeutic options. The amount came from the Solidarity Market held in Madrid on November 19 by the initiative "Una Pizca de Magia" promoted by the influencer Tamara Gorro.
Tamara Gorro co-created this project with Valeria and her family. Valeria was a nine-year-old neuroblastoma patient who actively participated in this initiative. Valeria was very aware of the pollution of the planet and therefore, it was decided that the project would offer tote bags to reduce the use of plastics. She herself designed the bags that are being sold. "Una Pizca de Magia" follows the same line of sustainable initiatives that Valeria loved so much, uniting research against cancer and the reduction of plastic consumption, promoting recycling, and giving a second life to clothing and accessories donated by various celebrities. Valeria passed away in July 2022 due to her illness and this donation has been made in her honor.
The funds will be destined for the different research lines of the Neural Tumors Laboratory directed by Dr. Miguel Segura, principal investigator of the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders research group at VHIR, directed by Dr. Lucas Moreno.
The Fundación Neuroblastoma was born in 2016 with the vocation to be useful to all parents of children suffering from the disease and at the same time to bring together the efforts of all families so that the pathology is 100% curable in the future.
