Pablo Calvo collected 3,500 euros for research in child cancer at VHIR

Real Dreams Foundation, the company which manages the crowdfunding platform "http://www.migranodearena.org/" migranodearena.org, has awarded Pablo Calvo for his project "http://www.migranodearena.org/pablo-calvo1" "1.200 km against cancer". The 3.500 euros collected last summer through this platform were sent to the Translational Research in Child Cancer group, led by Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR). Coinciding with the charity run "Los Calderones 2012", held every year in León with the aim to collect funds for research in child cancer, Pablo Calvo, who works as a fireman and loves cycling, decided to go further. He organized a bike trip of 1,200 kilometers from Nantes (France) to León with his dog. His first idea was to collect 1 euro for each kilometer, but he eventually collected 3,500 euros for VHIR. "The response from people was incredible. I wouldn’t have done anything without their support and collaboration", assures Pablo, who saw how step by step his project grew. For that reason, he decided to start a new one: this summer he is going to cycle 3,000 km around Europe to collect funds for research in Rett syndrome and Alpe Foundation. In the ceremony, hosted on Monday in the FCB Museum, Real Dreams Foundation also awarded the campaign of the company Cargill SLU for Miquel Valls Foundation, the initiative “A bike changes their lifes” of Vicente Ferrer Foundation, and the project “Let’s get started now” by Carmen M. Cubero for Josep Carreras Foundation.
