The CEMCAT researcher faces the new challenge in order to maintain and improve the impact of the publication, which is one of the most read in the field of neurology in Spanish.

Dr. Jaume Sastre-Garriga, researcher of the https://www.cem-cat.org/" Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia, has been named director of http://www.neurologia.com/" Revista de Neurología (Journal of Neurology, in English). The researcher of the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus is excited about facing the challenge of leading one of the most important publications in Spanish in the world in this field."It is a hope and a responsibility to continue making the journal interesting for the readers," he says. His work as a director will consist of stablishing the editorial policy and doing the initial screening of the studies to be published. In 2015, the magazine received more than 500 requests for investigations to be published, of which only about 40% were accepted. The journal has an impact factor of 0.83, similar to other publications within the same field in languages other than English. Dr. Sastre-Garriga aims to increase the impact factor trying to give voice to research and clinical observations of interest, and without recourse to bibliometric strategies, such as reducing the number of articles published. In addition to maintaining the readers interested, the new director wants "that the magazine contribute to advance knowledge in the field of neurology and has an educational capacity in this specialty and related sciences."Among the reviewers panel of the journal there are researchers from Vall d'Hebron, as the director of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Dr. Joan Comella, who coordinates the area of translational neuroscience, Director of CEMCAT, Dr. Xavier Montalban, who leads the area of multiple sclerosis together with Dr. Jordi Río, Dr. Cristina Auger from VHIR, responsible for the area of neuroradiology, Dr. Patricia Pozo, also from VHIR as head of the headache area, and Dr. Xavier Salas-Puig, from the Hospital as director of the epilepsy area. The magazine was founded in 1973 by Dr. Agustí Codina Puiggròs, when he was head of the Neurology Service at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. Revista de Neurología has nearly 300,000 subscribers to its http://www.neurologia.com/" website, mostly from Spain and South America, and is also the speaker of the research topics presented at conferences and various regional societies in the field.
