The model Judit Mascó presented today the "Dream of colours" kerchiefs that are created in collaboration with artist and friend Claudia Valsells, 24 hour before the International Women's Day. It is a charity event that focuses on women and health in an increasingly significant date.

The model Judit Mascó presented today the "Dream of colours" kerchiefs that are created in collaboration with artist and friend Claudia Valsells, for the International Women's Day. "This kerchief is a story about complicity, women and hope, and it is made with heart", she said. "As a model, but especially as a woman, it makes me really happy to contribute in a solidary action with which I feel identified"Every year 100,000 women are diagnosed with cancer in the country. The kerchief presented today is aimed at anyone who wants to show solidarity with women suffering from cancer. For the Dr Vicenç Martínez Ibáñez, Manager of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (HUVH), the kerchief presentation is a big chance to "thank Judit Mascó, Clàudia Valsells and Natura fot their solidary collaboration to help Campus Vall d'Hebron to make the best research for transferring solutions to the women affected of cancer".With the purchase of this kerchief it contributes to the research made by the research team at Barcelona's Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus against this disease. Dr. Joan Comella, director of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) affirmed that in Vall d'Hebron "we have the Messi, Neymar and Suárez of the research and assistance in women's cancer".The sale of the kerchiefs will go entirely to fund grants for the training of young researchers in woman's cancer research.Sergio Durany, founder of the Natura group, had been the host of today's presentation, as the kerchief can be purchased in his most emblematic stores in Barcelona (Consell de Cent, L'Illa, El Born, Travessera, Airport T1, Maquinista, Gran Vía 2, Canuda, Ferràn, Sarrià and Anec Blau) and online while stocks last.Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, with the collaboration of Natura, presents this cause with the desire to continue to find solutions to health problems, in this case women, while raising awareness and involving the public. Gynaecological cancerDr. Antonio Gil leader of the Gynaecology Service of the CHURCH, manifested that "the implication of the whole society is needed to keep doing research".The gynaecological cancer represents 15% of all cancers. The most common are the endometrium, 6%, the ovary, 4%, and cervical, 3%. The vulva and vagina represent 1.2%. Of these, the ovary is presenting a high mortality rate, nearly 4/100,000 inhabitants per year, followed by uterine body and cervix.Vall d'Hebron treat these cases at the Unit of Gynaecology, Oncology and Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract, comprising eight professionals that attend each year about 9,000 patients and performed five hundred surgeries. The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) has a group focused on molecular research, translational and clinical gynaecological cancers such as endometriosis. Thanks to the close collaboration between clinicians and basic researchers, our projects focus on unresolved clinical needs, such as early diagnosis (with new promising biomarker profiles mainly in endometrial cancer), prediction recurrence, dissemination pattern control (where the group is leading a clinical trial in ovarian cancer with M-trap device) and the implementation of new therapeutic tools. The Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) has a clinical research group focused on gynaecological tumours, which works with the Gynaecological Tumours Unit of the Medical Oncology Service at Vall d'Hebron, following a translational research model. This joint work determines the best methods of treatment of advanced tumours through international multicentre clinical trials, which allows patients to be treated with new drugs that offer promising therapeutic alternatives. Breast cancerDr. Isabel Rubio coordinator of the Breast Cancer Center in the Gynaecology Service, explained how the multidisciplinary team from Vall d'Hebron makes possible to improve the life of many women that are suffering from breast cancer. Dr. Cristina Saura, head of the Breast Cancer Unit form the Medic Oncology Service, underlined the importance of the pioneer treatments that are applied thanks to the research in this disease, and had made a call to the society to support this solidary action.Vall d'Hebron treat about 700 new cases of breast cancer per year. 90% of diagnosed patients are at a stage at which breast cancer is curable thanks to early detection programs. Among the projects being carried out in breast cancer are included the international registration of conservative mastectomy of complex nipple-areola, prospective studies of new techniques of sentinel node in breast cancer and breast cancer in men, and the molecular analysis of the axillary lymph nodes and its impact on survival. The most important projects in Oncology and Breast Cancer at Vall d'Hebron are treating patients with innovative drugs, with more than 50 clinical studies in patients with both localized and metastatic disease. These treatments with cyclin inhibitors, immunotherapy, immunoconjugates or other targeted therapies not yet approved with very promising results. In research, we emphasize translational research projects in collaboration with different laboratories of VHIO with the aim of understanding resistance mechanisms that cause conventionally used treatments to stop working. This gives us the necessary information to study how to make tumours to respond again and further advance the treatment of this disease.Vall d'Hebron is a reference centre for treatment of breast cancer during pregnancy. Thanks to the involvement of the service of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Surgery and Oncology, more than 50 women in this situation have already been treated in recent years with very satisfactory results. In 2016 an association of patients with breast cancer has been established at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, "Endavant chic@s" (Ahead guys), and will soon sign the agreement for the organization of volunteer patients with breast cancer of the hospital with Catalan Institute of Health (ICS). #mocadorsolidari#vhcontraelcancer
