La Caixa and VHIR sign an greement for post-MIR grant

La Caixa, through 'Obra Social', and Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) signed today an agreement whereby the bank will continue funding a post-MIR grant to our center. Thanks to the 60,000 euros that provides La Caixa, one of our researchers will enjoy two years of significant help to do a thesis and start a research activity. In the signature of the agreement have been present the general manager of Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (HUVH), Dr. Jaume Raventós, VHIR's director, Dr. Joan Comella and VHIR manager, Lluís Massó. On behalf of La Caixa attended Miquel Angel Pla, General Director of La Caixa in Barcelona city, Fernando Muñoz, Business Director at Sant Gervasi North, Natalia Vives-Jenny, head of communications in Catalonia, and Ernest Termis, director of the local office.Both Dr. Raventós and Dr. Comella thanked La Caixa for their collaboration in these difficult economic times, and Miquel Angel Pla stressed the satisfaction that their support means a major boost to a profitable activity for the society. Dr. Oriol Roca, member of the intensive care unit at HUVH, and of the pneumology research group at VHIR, explained how research activity changed his life after having received the same grant for 2008 and 2009. The grant will be awarded on December 2 as part of the scientific sessions and the annual conferences at VHIR.
