09/11/2011 La Marató 2010 funds three projects with VHIR researchers 09/11/2011 Three projects with participation of VHIR researchers have been funded by La Marató 2010 of TV3, an edition dedicated to spinal and brain injuries. The awards show, presented by journalist Albert Olm, took place on November 8 in the Conference Room of the Rectorate of the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, and had the presence of Boi Ruiz, Catalonian Regional Minister of Health, Ana Ripoll, UAB Rector, and Enric Marín, president of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation and La Marató Foundation. Among the 100 projects submitted were selected 30, which will receive a total of € 7,762,886. 17 of them are singles, and 13 of them are coordinated between two or more research centers.Dr. Pilar Lusilla Palacios, from the psychiatry and mental health group at VHIR, received a funding of 165,550 euros by the single project ESPELMA, 'Effectiveness of psycho-emotional support to acute spinal cord injuried'.Dr. Juan Sayós Ortega, from the Immunobiology group of CIBBIM-VHIR, was one of the beneficiaries of the project 'Modulation of the immune receptor activity: a new therapeutic strategy for acute damage in the central nervous system', that has received 395,684 euros. Dr. Israel Fernández Cadenas, from the group of neurovascular diseases of VHIR, is part of GODS Project: 'Genetic contribution to functional outcome and disability after stroke', which has received a funding of 296,570 euros.
